Provides expert technical support and
consultation for operating systems, as part of the SSG(StoreVision
Services) Unix group. Conducts and coordinates the analysis, planning,
and implementation of systems software and/or hardware. Analyzes,
designs, codes, tests, debugs, maintains, modifies, and documents
operating systems. Defines systems software and/or hardware requirements
and determines system specifications and customizations. Participates
in the design of subsystems and integration of total systems. Identifies
and resolves complex systems problems. May direct the work of less
experienced staff.

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience in operating systems analysis/ engineering.Minimum Qualifications
RHEL 5/6 knowledge and experience is required for this position. The ability to script, debug, and modify processes running in the LINUX Operating System is a basic must. Ability to develop web applications and installing/using/supporting dependent SQL databases, object oriented languages, revision control systems, and advanced scripting in multiple shell languages is a must. Comparable products would be XML-RPC, bash, ksh, Python, Java, web2py, Tomcat, CVS, and Subversion. Experience with LINUX administration, performance, and capacity monitoring functions as required, including the collection of metric data and identifying overloaded stores. The candidate should have experience with RPM packages (including pre-/post-install and pre-/post-uninstall scriptlets). Standard LINUX shell scripting and Python are necessary. The candidate should also have experience with VMware s vCenter and vSphere products, for purposes of creating/maintaining dozens of virtual machines for development, R&D, and Quality Assurance. The candidate must be comfortable handling multiple, simultaneous development tasks in a version control and 24x7 production support (on call rotation) environment. Experience with system startup, firmware, Operating System interaction, boot options, and various parameters on HP DL380G5/G6/G7/Gen8 class server hardware is necessary. Candidate must be well versed in all areas of Information Technology. Candidate must be willing to work onsite at one of the locations listed in the posting. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate ideas and results to diverse business and technical audiences. Effective organizational skills and the ability to lead discussions and drive to resolutions. Demonstrated advanced problem solving and analysis skills. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and be responsive to requests. Candidate must be a fast learner, independent thinker, and a team player. Must be self-driven and minimally be able to create small to medium size scripts from start to finish, independently. The candidate should have practical, firsthand experience in deploying complex computer systems. Knowledge of BCP's (Business Continuity Plans), security standards, audit summaries and the ability to work in fast paced, high volume environments is required.Preferred Skills
Prior team experience in group development efforts. Experience in Store Vision Teller, Subversion Administration and Expect Scripting. Knowledge of network printing and CUPS printing would be helpful. End-to-end knowledge of Linux, Apache, PostgreSQL, and Python (LAPP) is desired. Development experience in multiple languages, including C, C++, Ruby, Python, Perl and various shell scripting languages is advantageous. VMware vCenter installation, support and maintenance knowledge is preferred, with knowledge in the areas of design, architecture, implementation, and support, is a big plus. Cisco network equipment background is a plus. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and SQLServer knowledge is beneficial. Knowledge related to the implementation, configuration and support of Apache, Tomcat, Java, Ant, and CXF Struts is a plus. Familiarity with development debugging tools, such as strace, ltrace, and SystemTap is beneficial. An understanding of LVM snapshot capabilities and implementation methods to accurately and flawlessly maintain a zero impact and fast backout capability for operating system upgrades is preferred. Experience automating RPM and kickstart with Python is a plus. Knowledge of all aspects of upgrading RHEL from major version to major version is desired. Knowledge of Active Directory.
