This role is responsible for overall planning and scheduling of rail car repair work as well as tracking rail car repair status. Responsible for ensuring the efficient management and utilization of facility and material resources, setting customer turn-time expectations and ensuring release dates are met.
Manage shop’s in-bound car flow and volume levels.  Review and compile inbound car information from multiple data sources (internal car flow reports, RR en-route lists, list of active projects/assignments, individual customer inputs) and conduct analysis to determine up-coming gaps or bottlenecks based on work and shop capacity. Take action to ensure even flow of work into the shop by seeking additional work (GE Rail internal and direct customer contact) or advising to reduce inbound work.  Determine capacity for projects and assignments. Schedule car repair prioritization, progression through shop and determine shop’s commitments to expected release dates (ERD).  Ensure regular and clear communication with Front-line Supervisors regarding car prioritization, movement and status through physical car tag updates, leading production status/update meetings, etc. Oversee total production planning process by managing and coordinating all other related functions such as materials and car appraisals. Update production databases and manipulate data to generate daily metrics (UTE, performance) and production reports (production control sheets, status of cars, etc.).  Generate and communicate customer status reports as requested.

  • Bachelor’s degree or High School diploma/GED and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a financial services, operations or customer service setting.

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite including: Work, Excel. PowerPoint, and Outlook or comparable software application.
