The purpose of the Project Management role is to plan, control and execute an IT project or set of related IT projects to meet identified business needs and deliver business value, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Define, document, and provide satisfactory completion of small/medium-scale IT projects delivered individually or as part of a program. Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project
- Ensure that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and provides regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate
- Ensure that quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure. Manages the change control procedure and ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets and are signed off
- Provide effective leadership to the project team and takes appropriate action where performance deviates from agreed tolerances
- Identify mechanisms by which benefits can be delivered and measured and plans to activate these mechanisms at the required time
- Monitor outcomes against what was predicted in the business case and ensures that operational managers and staff are informed and involved throughout the change programme and fully prepared to exploit the new operational business environment once it is in place
- Coordinate personnel from different disciplines and with different viewpoints and leads activities required in the realisation of the benefits of each part of the change programme
- Create business readiness plan, taking into consideration IT deployment, data migration, capability deployment (training and engagement activities) and any business activities required to integrate new processes or jobs into the ‘business as usual’ environment
- Determine the readiness levels of business users with regard to upcoming changes; uncovers readiness gaps and creates and implements action plans to close the gaps prior to going live. Assists the user community in the provision of transition support and change planning and liaises with the project team
- Report progress on business readiness targets, business engagement activity, training design and deployment activities, key operational metrics and return to productivity measures
- Define the series and sequence of activities to bring stakeholders to the required level of commitment, prior to going live
- Work with Contracting and Procurement to request proposals from solution suppliers, evaluates results and leads team in selection of vendors. Influences the type of contract appropriate for the scope of work to be delivered
- Manages the vendor throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full time basis for anyone other than your current employer
- Minimum of four (4) Years of IT project management experience
- Bachelor's degree
- PMP Certified or currently working toward PMI Certification
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management. Has gained experience of achieving results through effective team leadership and through the planning, control and formal review of IT projects, including demonstrable success in managing multiple projects
- Proven delivery record working with virtual stakeholders and teams; and working effectively with different cultures
- Broadly skilled in information and communications technology. Has a comprehensive knowledge of relevant development life-cycles, and the environment in which they operate
- Skilled in information system development utilizing Microsoft Suite of development tools
- General understanding of system architecture and security concepts and application
- Proven experience in working effectively with System Architects and Information Security personnel to deliver systems that meet both functional and non-functional requirements
- Strong planning, communication and presentation skills, is proficient in project quality management, and familiar with programme management
- Familiar with a range of analysis, modeling and design methods; has good current knowledge of IT standards, applications and trends. Has an analytical and creative approach to problem solving
- Sound understanding of the costs of IT (project and “lifetime”) and the ability to cost operational IT services. Skilled at identifying benefits which come in the form of cost savings both within IT and in the business, in relation to the operational cost of the IT service
- Sound understanding of risk management
- Understands the interdependencies of business processes and information systems
