In this role, you will leverage your expertise in plastic part design and material development to guide the team through the development of plastics parts needed to develop a new industrial circuit breaker. Additionally, you will be the interface to the manufacturing and sourcing teams to develop tooling and processes to ensure the quality of all plastic parts.

Essential Responsibilities   

  • Utilize experience in up to date manufacturing techniques with a focus in compression and injection molding to drive the design and material decisions for all plastic parts
  • Use your expertise with thermoset and thermoplastic part and tool design to develop tooling with vendors and our manufacturing team
  • Apply mechanical design experience and Finite Element Analysis for strength optimization of molded parts
  • Apply intricate knowledge of dielectric and strength limitations of molded parts to develop high performing molded parts for electrical component applications
  • Work across multiple design groups to integrate design features of other subsystems into the molded circuit breaker housing
  • Participate in idea generation workouts for design concept development
  • Work closely with manufacturing and processing team to analyze and optimize material use and processing applications

Qualifications/Requirements    
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Material Science
  • Minimum 10 years of Engineering Experience with plastic part design

  • Advanced degree
  • High volume experience
Experience with plastics ranging 1-5 mm
Proven ability to resolve conflict and prioritize actions for maximum business impact
