Essential Responsibilities
|
• Collaborate with software
architects to make design decisions to meet business needs and proactively
drive those decisions into product software designs
• Participate in and lead the authoring of software requirements and design specifications. • Design and implement embedded software applications in C++ for a real-time patient monitoring system • Work across the entire software development lifecycle including high-level and detailed design, software implementation, verification, and maintenance activities • Leverage Design For Reliability for software, Agile, and Lean software development methodologies to drive reliability and predictability throughout the product development life cycle • Apply technical expertise and oversight to ensure quality of design and implementation • Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests to verify the design and implementation • Collaborate and interact with global teams on software development • Mentor other engineers on the team to ensure high-quality software |

Qualifications/Requirements
|
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer
Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related computer
degree
• 5+ years of experience in object-oriented design, implementation, and verification of embedded C/C++ software • Experience with real-time software systems in a multi-threaded environment • Experience developing in an embedded Linux environment • Demonstrated strong software design abilities • Strong knowledge of software development life cycle and development environments • Working knowledge of fundamental software engineering tools and methodologies (examples include: requirements management tools, UML tools, version control or configuration management systems, static and dynamic analysis, defect tracking and resolutions tools and automated testing) • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills (both written and verbal) • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills • Must be comfortable and willing to work in a very collaborative, Agile/SCRUM environment • You must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process • You must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background • You must be legally authorized to work in the United States without work sponsorship at the time of hire • Must be willing to work in our Milwaukee, WI facility full time • Must submit application for employment through Career Opportunity System or gecareers.com to be considered • Must be 18 years of age or older |

Desired Characteristics

• Master’s Degree in Engineering
or Computer Science
• 6+ years of experience developing software • • Demonstrated experience with development of medical device software • Socket communications programming, UDP, and TCP/IP networking experience • Experience in developing products with USB 2.0 • Development with multiple concurrent USB devices using high USB bandwidth allocation and throughput. • USB kernel driver development • Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues • Knowledge of GE Healthcare processes and engineering tools preferred • Experience with Lean, Agile, Scaled Agile software development methodologies • Experience in defining and guiding design for reliability, management of continuous quality metrics. • Demonstrated facilitation and negotiation skills in driving closure on product-related decisions • Previous experience working with global engineering teams • Ability to communicate technical concepts to other technical team members • Ability to make recommendations to improve the product, process, or technology |
