What You'll Do
As a Tool Designer for the John Deere Waterloo Works,
located in Waterloo, IA, you will understand and procure simple to
complex tools, stampings, fixtures, gages for both component and
assembly manufacture for current production upgrades and new product
programs. In addition, you will:
- Understand GD&T to be able to apply, and modify using technical
judgment and experience, tooling designs they are procuring.
- Search and implement new technologies available and share this knowledge with designers and engineers with less experience.
- Manage the in-house tool procurement and be the interface with the
in-house tool shop supporting and coordinating with those building the
new tooling and gages.
- Manage and be the lead point of contact for outside suppliers
providing builds, ranging from simple to complex tooling required for
each new project.
