What You'll Do At John Deere Electronic Solutions (JDES) in Fargo, ND, as a Software Design Engineer - Power Electronics, you will work in a team environment to design, modify and evaluate control algorithms for electronic products for use in rugged environments to meet quality, delivery and cost goals. In addition you will:

• Have responsibility for the full development cycle for products, taking them from concept through production.
• Research and develop new state of the art control methodologies for Motor Control, DC-DC converters, and AC drives.
• Work as a technical lead on complex products.
• Work in cross functional multi-discipline environment, providing technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and electronic design during the product development.

What It Takes


We need an excellent communicator, both verbal and written, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Electronics or equivalent experience in a related career field. We also require:

• 5+ years of experience in firmware (Embedded Software) development for microcontrollers/DSPs using either C/C++ or Matlab/Simulink or similar Modeling Tool for Power Electronics applications such as PMAC/ BLDC/ Induction/ SR motor control or Advanced Degree in Power Electronics with experience in Power Electronics Applications.

A strong candidate will also have:

• Experience with auto-code generation from simulation and modeling tools, (e.g. MATLAB, Simulink, Real-Time Workshop, etc.)
• Experience with hybrid electric systems (X-by-wire, electric motor control, etc.)
