Description


**This is a contract position and is not eligible for company benefits.**
Works directly with the camp director to coordinate, plan and execute on all aspects of youth programs at SAS. Including but not limited to Camp Chill and SAS Super Camp. Is Responsible for the overall direction, organization, and supervision of camp programs.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assists in hiring camp counselors and staff.
  • Trains and supervises counselors
  • Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service staff trainings
  • Plans and coordinates camp activities.
  • Develop routines, schedules, and procedures for camp operation
  • Monitors staff and camper progress and provides counsel when needed.
  • Acts as principal contact for camp operations.
  • Supervises daily operation of camp; assists with general camp duties as needed. 
  • Define and monitor crisis management plan, including emergency procedures
  • Creatively develop camp curriculum and work with outside vendors to enhance the camp experience
  • Interacts professionally with staff, parents and children; addresses concerns and resolves conflicts in a swift and professional manner.
  • Order or supervise the ordering of food, campers lunches, supplies and equipment
  • Performs other duties in support of Work Life department as assigned.

Qualifications


Essential: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Education, Parks and Recreation or related field required.
  • 1 year of experience working as a camp counselor
  • 1 year of experience planning, coordinating, and implementing recreation programs for school age groups.
Additional:
  • Ability to manage staff of 15 or more counselors and staff effectively.
  • Ability to effectively hire appropriate camp staff and train them accordingly.
  • Must be able to use necessary technology for financial reporting needs. These include but are not limited to CVENT (or similar registration system), Sharepoint, Contribute, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to use computer applications listed above to create daily reports for camp needs. Reports include but are not limited to sign in sheets, rosters, allergy reports, contact information, and distribution lists.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form on a regular basis.
  • Ability to write age appropriate curriculum for all camp programs.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and delegate responsibilities.
 Preferred: 
  • Previous supervisory experience
