The Medtronic Clinical Operations (MCO) Account Manager is the primary owner of the relationship between GCO, Medtronic Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and global partners. The Account Manager plays an integral role in the success of the client's work experience with MCO which is critical to the organization's success, specifically managing the day-to-day relationships with these strategic partners and developing a deep understanding of their product lines and long-term business strategies. He/she assists in anticipating, defining, and resolving issues related to MCO services, project prioritization and cost justification by aligning business interests with financial goals and establishing metrics to analyze and track the performance of their partnership initiatives with MCO.
This role requires continuous communication with SBU Clinical Research teams throughout the lifecycle of a clinical study (from concept to closure) in order to identify BU requirements, ensure SBU review and cost estimates of major deliverables, communicate revisions as needed, and delivery of services as agreed upon through Statements of Work. Excellent communication and influence management skills are a must.



• Service Levels
o Manage client requests for proposals and project offer analysis
o Oversee financial and contractual performance of Sponsor projects  -- Ensuring delivery of Ops group per SOWs through milestone management and operational metrics
o Facilitate change control processes and procedures
o Customize pricing according to requirements
o Work with internal stakeholders to finalize MCO project budgets and scope of work to meet financial and company goals
o Accountable for supporting the objectives of the assigned account(s) and making recommendations to achieve the organization's objectives
• Leverage Portfolio Knowledge
o Demonstrate a solid understanding of SBU products, target patient population, and disease state
o Drive MCO training initiatives relative to assigned SBU to enhance GCO employee effectiveness
o Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of assigned SBU clinical study portfolio. Proactively prioritize MCO work based on SBU priorities when demand exceeds capacity.
o Demonstrate knowledge of the medical device sector pertaining to assigned SBU including up-to-date understanding of clinical, legal, and regulatory developments. Proactively disseminate relevant information pertaining to SBU Clinical plans and MCO service delivery.
o
• Relationship Management/Communication
o Represent  MCO globally as the Account Manager between Medtronic SBU and MCO personnel
o Identify and monitor key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and results
o Initiates strategic concepts and identifies opportunities to help SBU gain efficiencies
o Assist SBU leaders in the communication of clinical portfolio status
o Facilitate small to large groups through challenging discussions
o Maintain a strong relationship with the customer during the clinical trial lifecycle
o Coordinate delivery of services and communications for SBU customers by facilitating internal discussions between GCO functional groups.
o Internal focus: Advocate for MCO functions and ensure success of functional managers as evidenced by shared goals.

• Process Excellence
o Build and maintain understanding of MCO service offerings
o Interact with functional leadership, technical, and non-technical staff to facilitate operational efficiencies across the clinical trial lifecycle.
o Advocate for the implementation, stewardship and support of processes and tools that increase quality and productivity and strengthen execution
o Drive standards, best practices and Standard Operating Procedure compliance
o Leverage practices and tools globally to drive consistency in MCO service delivery. Drive best practices and standardization across SBUs.
o Promote initiatives to optimize Medtronic’s position relative to quality, asset management cost, lead-time/responsiveness, risk management, and technology, in support of Medtronic innovation and growth objectives.
o Coordinate and manage operational team briefings
o Lead strategic planning, direction and support to business development initiatives



EDUCATION/TRAINING
o Bachelor’s degree

JOB EXPERIENCE
o 7+ years Relationship Management experience
o Prior Project Management experience



EDUCATION/TRAINING
o Master’s Degree in scientific field of study (e.g., biological science, social science, engineering, or other related medical/scientific field); MBA.

JOB EXPERIENCE
o Seven years experience directly supporting clinical research or master’s degree with five years clinical research experience
o Significant knowledge of clinical and outcomes research study design, Good Clinical practices, and global clinical regulations, including FDA regulations and ICH guidelines, for devices, biologics, and/or pharmaceuticals.
o Influence and Change Management experience
o Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with leadership in a cross-functional environment
o Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate verbally and in writing
o High attention to detail and accuracy
o Demonstrated experience in delivery of scientific (e.g., study protocol, final report) as well as operational (e.g., clinical study monitoring) deliverables.
o Experience with Project Management Tools (Concerto, MS Project)
o Demonstrated ability to identify study issues and implement solutions, including identifying and involving the appropriate decision makers
o Ability to motivate and hold individuals accountable to deliverables; ability to achieve objectives and milestones
o Demonstrated ability to identify and adapt to shifting priorities and competing demands, and maintain composure in difficult circumstances
