The Position

The Department of Infectious Diseases at Genentech Research and Early Development located in South San Francisco has an opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Research Associate to identify, characterize and evaluate targets for treatment of fungal infections. The successful candidate will utilize a wide range of genetic, molecular and biochemical approaches to understand the molecular basis of fungal diseases and mechanisms amenable to therapeutic intervention.

Who You Are

PhD in genetics, microbiology, cell biology or related field with extensive hands-on research experience in fungal genetics.  A proven working knowledge in a wide range of genetic and molecular techniques, and a strong desire in carrying out experiments at the bench are required.  Experience with growing, manipulating, and performing experiments with human pathogenic fungi is desired.  Additional experiences in cellular and biochemical assays, cell isolation and culture, and microscopy are encouraged.

Qualified candidates will have proven ability to design, execute and interpret experiments independently and will have publications in peer-reviewed journals. Strong written and verbal communication as well as organizational skills and desire to work in a team setting are essential.
