The Scientist I - R&D is responsible for designing, developing and optimizing new antibodies and Immunohistochemistry testing procedures for both the clinical laboratory and the clinical research laboratory following CAP and GCP standards. The position is also responsible for assisting in evaluation of new technology platforms which requires keeping up to date with the field related publications, trainings, and conferences as needed.
The Scientist will be responsible for processing samples related to clinical research projects and the evaluation and validation of new equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of biological systems, analytical data analysis, imaging platform and software solutions for quantitative assessment for oncology tumor disease detection. The projects may be clinical trials, biopharm research or other collaborations that require advanced laboratory resources. Additionally this position will play a role in training lab personnel, troubleshooting assays, and acting as a technical liaison between the department other departments and clients.
• Combining knowledge of biology/immunohistochemistry/imaging/data analysis to deliver new services and technical and clinical assays
• Evaluating and extending new applications and concepts which can be developed into new assays providing new innovative advantages to internal clinical testing and Biopharma client projects
• Using broad expertise in biology/IHC/imagining/software help resolve complex issues with current assays
• Provide technical leadership to Development team as well as clinical staff
• Assist with technical design and product development design of assays
• Provide communications and presentations to department and external clients
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Bachelors Degree in a Life Science, laboratory medicine or related preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive histology and Immunohistochemistry (IHC) required
  • 1+ year(s) experience in IHC image analysis
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must have a solid understanding of Histology and IHC principles
  • Familiar with CAP and GCP standards.
  • Familiar with automated IHC staining instrumentation.
  • Good working knowledge of micro-anatomy and familiar with staining characteristics of most antibodies currently in use
  • You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • You must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process.
  • You must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process.
