Job Description & Responsibilities:
This manager-level position in the Risk, Information, and Banking Finance Team serves as a business analysis point of contact, with a focus on the Global Banking Organization, dealing with bank holding company-related projects and other regulatory-based analytic projects. One of the key responsibilities is to analyse the credit metrics for AXP, Provision & Reserve levels, and provide insights to Senior Risk Management Financial Leaders as well as the Credit Committee (comprising of Company CFO and Chief Risk Officer), to obtain sign off on the adequacy of reserve levels. The role requires in-depth understanding of the credit reserve models and involves significant interaction with multiple teams both internal and external, including, but not limited to: Banking, Risk, Controllership, and Internal Audit as well as Federal Reserve Officials and External Auditors. This is a very high-visibility role with relatively frequent exposure to senior management (SVP level and above), and therefore requires not only excellent analytical acumen, but also stellar communication skills and ability to tailor complex messages to the appropriate audience.

- Superior written & verbal communication skills; able to communicate with all levels of management, both in and outside of the finance organization
- Strong strategic thought leadership skills and creativity
- 2+ years solid financial and analytical skills; ability to work with large sets of data and draw meaningful conclusions, empowering our business partners to make smart, information-based decisions
- Ability to manipulate data and structure analyses for new and existing investment alternatives
- Capacity and desire to work on ambiguous projects; creating clarity, driving successful and meaningful outcomes
- Strong work-ethic and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships both within the finance team as well as with business partners
- Undergraduate in Economics, Finance, Accounting or related coursework
- Providing best-in-class analysis and decision support to the global banking organization
- Maintaining close linkages to the two US banks, both located in Salt Lake City, as well as visibility into the other international banks which comprise the Global Banking Organization
- Build tenable framework and analytics in developing consistent approach to forecast loan loss reserves
- Maintain sufficiently robust documentation surrounding governance and loan loss reserve methodologies / calculations, which can be presented to Controllership as well as our external auditors
- Influencing business partners with sound logic and air-tight analyses
- Relationship building across the Banking, Risk, and RIB Finance teams
Educational requirement:
- MBA preferred, although not an application pre-requisite
