Job Summary & Responsibilities

Duties: Senior Technical Analyst in the Core Platform Engineering’s Virtualization group.  Responsible for solving business and technical problems related to the design/development of products driving the functional architecture.  Interact with senior technology management, as well as various groups within the technology organization, and translate findings into the development and re-design/re-engineering of existing systems, as necessary.  Responsible for engineering of Virtualization solutions across the Firm, including regression testing, developing installers, and benchmarking performance.  Drive vendors to address product enhancements, delivery of new features and resolutions of bugs within the operating systems.  Perform project management roles in addition to technical delivery of projects.  Interact with various Operations teams that are responsible for the provisioning and lifecycle-management of the products.  Perform Level 3 operational support including resolution of hypervisor and operating system build issues, performance issues, network issues, and provision issues in a large scale environment.  Integrate complex in-house infrastructure within our virtualization solutions and provide usable web services and interfaces for external provisioning and automation systems.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Job Requirements: Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering plus three (3) years (if Master’s degree) experience in the job offered or in a related Networking, or Virtualization Engineering role or five (5) years (if Bachelor’s degree) experience in the job offered or in a related Networking, or Virtualization Engineering role.  Must have one (1) year of experience: mentoring junior engineers; programming skills in shell, bash, Perl or Python to automate UNIX-based operating systems; and performing installation, system configuration, and troubleshooting within both Linux operating systems (RHEL) and at least one hypervisor operating system (VMware ESX, or Linux KVM).  Must have three (3) years of experience: managing projects end-to-end, includes requirements gathering, implementation, testing, documentation and technical support; service delivery and management experience, including developing and implementing disaster recovery, business continuity planning, incident management and change management procedures; designing/deploying networks and servers in large scale data centers featuring DMZ and non-DMZ security zones; and capacity planning to ensure scalable growth of infrastructure while maintaining an agreed upon Service Level Objective.
