The Embedded Software Engineer- Lufkin Automation will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, testing and maintaining software / firmware for the rapidly growing Lufkin Automation product lines. These products enhance the instrumentation and electronic well equipment used in artificial lift optimization.
In addition, you will:
  • Define new project software / firmware requirements and developer test plans
  • Design high-level and low-level models
  • Be responsible for coding and unit testing of developed code, as well as software / hardware debugging and resolution verification using issue tracking tools and methods
  • Support software quality assurance team with timely issue resolution
  • Review and contribute to design work for other engineering team members
  • Analyze existing software / programs for better operating efficiency and/or to adapt programs to new requirements
  • Write technical documents such as design and development specifications and other required technical documentation
  • Assist with technical and customer support
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Electrical EngineeringELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of practical software / firmware development experience
  • Proficiency with C / C++ programming languages
  • Proficiency knowledge of Linux
  • Strong debug and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong code documentation and commenting skills
  • Strong knowledge of processes and procedures such as CMMI
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry
  • Self-starter comfortable working with cross functional teams
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Additional experience with code-writing in a variety of programming languages
  • Exposure to Microsoft Technologies, .NET, DCOM, ATL, VC++, VB, SQL Server, Internet Technologies, SOA, Java, JBOSS, or XML
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
