Job description
Working in IBM's Strategy & Transformation Practice, the Data Strategy Managing Consultant contributes to and supports the delivery and sales of Technology Strategy Solutions to IBM Clients within the Communications Sector. Relevant industry depth/experience in Energy & Utilities and/or Media & Entertainment is strongly preferred.

A successful candidate will have strong business acumen and possess a blend of general Business and Technology Strategy competencies. Specifically, the Consultant will have a versatile background in the following areas: Data Strategy and Governance, Road Mapping, Cloud Strategy, IT Governance & Effectiveness, Application Portfolio Rationalization, IT Strategy and Transformation, and other key offerings. In addition, the Data Strategy Consultant will assist Practice Leadership in developing proposals that align to our client's strategic and long-term objectives.

Candidates should be able to comfortably communicate (both verbally and in writing) with Senior Business and Technology teams.

In this position, you’ll have the ability to harness advances in data technology, data management and analytical techniques to improve business performance. You’ll help clients maximize this competitive advantage through the implementation of data analytics to support key business processes. You will be able to leverage your Data Strategy, Roadmap, Architecture, and Governance expertise to deliver strategic value to the client.

As a Data Strategy Consultant, you'll work collaboratively with clients to develop integrated business/operating strategies and models that create rapid and sustainable value. You'll help clients envision their future, as well as align business and technology to create new possibilities, develop the strategies and plans to achieve those possibilities, and manage the change as the vision is implemented.

Since the majority of our consulting work is done at our client sites, up to 75% US and global travel may be required.

It is also expected that our consultants will reside within a reasonable (within 50 miles) commuting distance of one of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Cinci., OH; Columbus, OH; Cleveland, OH; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Detroit, MI; Hartford, CT; Houston, TX; Kansas City, MO; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; Minne., MN; NYC and surrounding areas; Phila., PA; San Fran., CA; Tulsa, OK; and Wash., DC (2252)

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • At least 3 years experience in Data Strategy, using methodologies and frameworks based on experience at a consulting firm and/or professional services organization.
    • At least 3 years experience in IT Governance & Effectiveness, Application Portfolio Rationalization, IT Strategy and Transformation and/or other key offerings.
    • At least 3 years experience in leading and/or supporting projects that deliver complex Data Strategy and initiatives with tangible results, working across organizational boundaries, and interfacing with senior client executives.
    • At least 4 years experience in understanding key technology trends around Data Strategy and analytics and their impact on the client´s business.
    • At least 2 years experience in the Energy & Utilities and/or Media & Entertainment industry.
    • At least 2 years experience in assisting and/or leading consulting sales activities related to Data Strategy and performance management engagements.
    • At least 3 years experience in professional written and oral communications.
    • At least 3 years experience in Data Strategy, Road Mapping, Architecture, and Governance.
    • Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements)
    • English: Basic knowledge
    Preferred
    • Master's Degree
    • At least 5 years experience in Data Strategy, using methodologies and frameworks based on experience at a consulting firm and/or professional services organization.
    • At least 5 years experience in IT Governance & Effectiveness, Application Portfolio Rationalization, IT Strategy and Transformation and/or other key offerings.
    • At least 5 years experience in leading and/or supporting projects that deliver complex Data Strategy and initiatives with tangible results, working across organizational boundaries, and interfacing with senior client executives.
    • At least 5 years experience in understanding key technology trends around Data Strategy and analytics and their impact on the client´s business.
    • At least 4 years experience in the Energy & Utilities and/or Media & Entertainment industry.
    • At least 4 years experience in assisting and/or leading consulting sales activities related to Data Strategy and performance management engagements.
    • English : Intermediate
