Job description
Working in IBM's Strategy & Transformation Practice, the Cloud Strategy Managing Consultant contributes to and supports the delivery and sales of Technology Strategy Solutions to IBM Clients within the Communications Sector. Relevant industry depth/experience in Energy & Utilities and/or Media & Entertainment is strongly preferred.

A successful candidate will have strong business acumen and possess a blend of general Business and Technology Strategy competencies. Specifically, the consultant will have a versatile background in the following areas: Cloud Strategy, Data Strategy and Governance, Technology Roadmaps, IT Governance & Effectiveness, Application Portfolio Rationalization, IT Strategy and Transformation, and other key technology-based offerings. In addition, the Cloud Strategy Managing Consultant will assist Practice Leadership in developing proposals that align to our clients' strategic and long-term objectives.

Candidates should have experience in analyzing various aspects of a client's technical or service management environment (e.g., ITIL). The consultant should have experience synthesizing findings and making Cloud recommendations including developing Cloud plans and developing final reports. To be effective in this role, the Consultant must possess a working knowledge of infrastructure, Cloud computing, ITIL processes, and general IT concepts (e.g., data center infrastructure) to effectively communicate and guide teams of deeper domain specialists. The Consultant should also have strong client facing and client management skills, with experience in working in a consulting client environment and with all levels of client management, including C-level.

Candidates must have domain expertise in technical planning and migration of customer's IT environments into the Cloud. They should have strategy cloud consulting experience with external clients and have led billable teams in successful engagements.

Candidates with the expertise to contribute to new Cloud intellectual capital creation and improve existing intellectual capital are strongly desired. Other contributions may include participation in sales efforts, contributions to thought leadership, support in recruiting and Practice community development, and mentoring of junior practitioners.

In this position, you’ll have the ability to harness advances in Cloud technology, data management and analytical techniques to improve business performance. You’ll help clients to maximize this competitive advantage through the implementation of data analytics to support key business processes.

As a Cloud Strategy Managing Consultant, you'll work collaboratively with clients to develop integrated business/operating strategies and models that create rapid and sustainable value. You'll help clients envision their future, as well as align business and technology to create new possibilities, develop the strategies and plans to achieve those possibilities, and manage the change as the vision is implemented.

Candidates should be able to comfortably communicate (both verbally and in writing) with Senior Business and Technology teams.

Since the majority of our consulting work is done at our client sites, up to 75% US and global travel may be required.

    • At least 3 years experience in Cloud Strategy, using methodologies and frameworks based on experience in a consulting firm or professional services organization.
    • At least 2 years experience in IT Governance & Effectiveness, Application Portfolio Rationalization, IT Strategy and Transformation and/or other key offerings.
    • At least 3 years experience in leading and/or supporting projects that deliver complex Cloud initiatives with tangible results, working across organizational boundaries, and interfacing with senior client executives.
    • At least 3 years experience in understanding key technology trends, especially relating to Cloud and data strategy, and their impact on the client´s business.
    • At least 2 years experience in the Energy & Utilities and/or Media & Entertainment industry.
    • At least 3 years experience in professional written and oral communications.
    • At least 2 years experience in assisting in or leading consulting sales activities related to Cloud and Data Strategy and performance management engagements.
    • At least 3 years experience in domain expertise in technical planning and migration of customer's IT environments into the Cloud.
