Job description
The TMS Storage Sales Specialist position is a quota carrying commissioned sales position. This professional anticipates, creates and defines innovative sales strategies and customer solutions in strategic environments. This sales specialist is considered an expert and leader in the storage seller community.

Skills and capabilities
Maintains expert skills in engaging and closing sales opportunities, including in-depth financial acquisition skills. Demonstrates expert knowledge of competition in flash storage solutions. Effectively differentiates IBM solid state technology offerings from competitive alternatives and creates customer preference for IBM offerings on that differentiation. Is the primary source of competitive knowledge within the assigned discipline and business unit. Leads negotiations with the highest levels of customer management for the acquisition of the solution. Accountable for success of sales engagements involving Sales and Technical teams. Leads several opportunities at the same time.

Must have strong knowledge of the storage and server market, the customers, the competition and must be able to demonstrate they have sold into this market place competitively.

Must be able to position the technical differentiators and benefits of flash-based storage solutions to the customers.

Must be able to develop an in-depth knowledge of the business benefits of TMS and how to position these with customers.

Must be comfortable making cold calls on prospective customers as we develop the market and generate references for our flash-based technology.

Proven ability to work with valued business partners.

Must possess the soft skills to leverage the IBM Client Sales Teams.

The position also requires accurate forecasting and strong territory management skills.
Required
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 5 years experience in Storage Sales
  • Readiness to travel 50% travel annually
  • English: Fluent
Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years experience in Storage Sales
  • At least 4 years experience in  forecasting and territory management
