Director, Planning and Business Services (S&P Capital IQ)
Job Description
The Director will support the Managing Director of Strategy and Business Development of S&P Capital IQ in the coordination of the monthly operations reports, monthly MRM reviews, the strategic plan, and the annual operating plan. This position will report directly to the MD SBD of S&P Capital IQ and S&P Dow Jones Indices. He or she will also support business development activities and support the communication and synthesis of strategic business information. Further, the position will work closely with the MD and provide recommendations for investment, acquisition or, divestiture targets, as well as or operational enhancements.

Responsibilities: 

Support the MD in the synthesis and communication to Corporate of information related to emerging customer needs and the business' strategy. This support may include demonstrating the points of integration between the business and MHFi strategies, and responding to ad hoc requests from the President, S&P Capital IQ for corporate leadership, employee forums, etc.  Actively support the execution of S&P CIQ/S&P DJI activities which include:
  • Monthly Business Reviews on business line updates, key market trends, etc. in order to convey strategic rationale and implications.
  • 3-Year Strategic Outlook Deck, coordinating storyline including market/industry/customer trends; competitive landscape; market opportunities; strategy and key initiatives; etc.; Finance required to coordinate financial forecast
  • Annual Plan (Discussion Document): Same as 3-Year Plan
  • Investor Day (new for this year)
  • Ad Hoc Board Decks: Same as special topics for Business Reviews
  • Monthly Activity Reports: Requires ability to discern relevant highlights from a Corporate/Board perspective from multiple pages of inputs.
  • Investor Fact Book: Requires ability to describe/write about the S&P CIQ/DJI offerings
  • Quarterly Analyst Meetings, Auditor Meeting & Earnings Report: Can be coordinated by Finance, but some questions need to be answered by incumbent
  • Shareholder's Meeting Q&A: Can be coordinated by Finance, but identification questions and response to those questions need to be answered by incumbent
  • Work with leadership across all areas of the individual businesses to execute as needed on identified investment, acquisition and divestiture opportunities, as well as appropriate operational enhancements.
  • Work very closely with the other members of the Strategy & BD team and Finance
  • Work with Product Management and Marketing across all Business lines
  • Work closely with MD, CFO and President in communication of plans and results to senior management. 
Qualifications:

  • A degree in Business, Finance or other related field, Advanced degree preferred.
  • Must possess 5-7 years' work experience in capital markets and/or fintech area (consulting or financial services)
  • Proficiency with valuation and other financial models is desired.
  • Experience in leading or supporting special projects related to product development, portfolio enhancement, global expansion, and performance measurement
  • The position requires highly developed interpersonal skills for negotiations with key stakeholders, such as listening and influencing skills, and relationship management.
  • Must effectively and clearly communicate (written and verbal) recommendations to multiple audiences. Proficient with all major presentation and collaboration software.
  • Must have the ability to work comfortably across organizational boundaries, and quickly gain the credibility and respect of executives at multiple levels.
  • Ability to work independently and creatively.
