Description
The Innovation (IP) counsel plays a vital role in
protecting P&G's international investment in intellectual property.
As an Innovation counsel with P&G, your duties would include:
- Filing and prosecuting patent applications in the U.S. and around the world
- Dealing with freedom-to-practice and intellectual property validity issues
- Developing intellectual property protection strategies utilizing multiple forms of IP (e.g. patent, design, trademark)
- Counseling clients on intellectual property, trade secret and antitrust matters
- Participating with outside trial counsel in intellectual property litigation
- Negotiating a broad spectrum of agreements, including licensing agreements
- Appellate practice before the Patent Office Board of Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
- Clearing new trademarks for use and registration globally and locally and handling the trademark and copyright aspects of acquisitions and divestitures, internet and e-commerce and trademark licensing
Qualifications
All applicants must have:
- Previous experience as an IP attorney, with approximately 2-5 years of experience preferred
- A Juris Doctorate or other non-US Juris Doctorate equivalent
All of our innovation/IP attorneys have excellent law
school records from a cross-section of leading law schools from across
the country. Attorneys who work in the area of patent preparation and
prosecution are required to have a technical undergraduate background
(i.e. science and engineering) in order to practice patent law. In
addition, our innovation/IP attorneys are required to take and pass a
state bar exam and the U.S. Patent Registration exam within the first
year of employment. We place special emphasis on written and oral
communication skills. We also look for well-rounded men and women with
an abundance of those elusive and intangible qualities such as
leadership, vision, and energy.
