Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for presentation of technical offers to potential customers and performance of physical risk assessments for network facilities including central offices, data centers, head-ends and remote sites for carriers and enterprise customers. The candidate will assist senior engineers and technical project managers in providing consulting services to network operators and enterprise customers interested in improving network reliability and energy efficiency.
 
Activities include, but are not limited to, travel both within and outside the United States to:
  • Develop physical risk assessment opportunities
  • Perform physical risk assessments at client sites
  • Perform other NEBS analyses in NEBS laboratory
  • Research technical topics
  • Host regular conference calls with clients
  • Draft and finalize risk assessment and testing reports
  • Speak at client readouts
  • Develop and provide customer training
  • Develop broad industry guidelines for data center and network facility design.
 
Candidate may provide input to GR update forums based on work experience and research of ASHRAE, ANSI/EIA/TIA, CTIA, ATIS, ETS and other standards bodies.
 
The candidate must possess experience in traditional telecommunications network systems and central office infrastructure, data center infrastructure, back-up power and NEBS requirements. They must also possess a solid understanding of wireless telecommunications and the evolving changes to the industry including the migration of network infrastructure towards data center type environments.
 
The individual must be a self-starter capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently to completion, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and have advanced PC abilities.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a strong focus on hardware and infrastructure design
  • 7+ years engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of Telcordia, ASHRAE, ANSI/EIA/TIA, CTIA, ATIS, ETS and related industry Standards
  • Working knowledge of landline and wireless telecommunications
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage multiple projects concurrently • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a technical team
  • Ability to operate well under pressure and exercise sound judgment
  • Advanced PC skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Framemaker)
  • Ability to effectively in both written and oral forms
  • Adaptive to change, open to different viewpoints, ability to innovate.
