About the Role:
Reporting to McAfee’s Executive Vice President, CTO, and GM of Corporate Products, Michael Fey, the VP and CTO, Consumer will be McAfee’s visionary and evangelist responsible for strongly influencing the company’s technical direction for the consumer space. This CTO will assume full responsibility for evangelizing McAfee’s thought leadership position within the security industry through public speaking, standards development, and advanced research.
The CTO, Consumer will provide leadership for key technologists in product development and the field as part of the “Office of the CTO” ensuring alignment, creative thought leadership, prototyping of new products/technologies and longer-range strategic vision for the Consumer space. He or she will make strategic decisions to define and position McAfee’s technology capabilities (both current and forward looking) with business growth. The CTO, Consumer will also be the key leader in the execution of technology strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships. The CTO will work closely with McAfee’s President, EVP of Product Operations and other key stakeholders to establish a product vision and road map to achieve McAfee’s goals and business strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- This position will help our customer base understand McAfee’s technical direction and strategy.
- The CTO will be responsible for aligning technology deliverables with business priorities.
- Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of all products and services.
Qualifications
Required Experience/Skills & Education:
- A university degree in the field of computer science, business administration, or another rigorous discipline
- An advanced degree in one these fields is a strong plus
- The ideal candidate will have significant experience in software development for innovative, relevant and emergent technology companies with a consumer presence
- They will have proven success in building, managing, motivating and mentoring world class Research and Development organizations
- This person will have deep expertise with security products and services and will have proven leadership ability – both technical and people
- The final candidate will bring superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities, the ability to develop and clearly articulate a compelling technology vision and the ability to inspire the team, community and industry
- The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills
- They will have excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to articulate to both technical and non-technical audiences
- This person will be exceptionally self-motivated and directed
