R&D Engineer - Water Processing

Leads research focused on the creation of new technologies for PepsiCo's ingredient water processing/quality and waste water treatment/reuse globally.The knowledge and technologies developed are those that will transform the global competitiveness and environmental sustainability of our current beverage businesses and give us sustainable competitive advantages in the manufacture of new beverages, across a wide range of product categories, including bottled water.
  • Translates research objectives into project goals; plans and leads project teams; effectively communicates project status to stakeholders
  • Establishes partnerships with appropriate Global R&D groups, Global Quality Assurance team and Global Operating Divisions to provide proof-of-principle, transfers the knowledge and supports the development and initial commercialization of new technologies
  • In conjunction with lab and pilot plant managers, oversees the proper management (safety & quality) of lab & pilot plant processes, supplies, instruments, and equipment to achieve maximum output.
  • Spends significant percentage of time in lab or pilot plant generating data and pursing technical solutions.
  • Leads preparation of scientific publications (internal and external to PepsiCo), patent applications, presentations at R&D Forums, and presentations to senior management. Highly technical and specialized individual contributor.


Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field
  • Industrial research and development experience required
  • Technical expertise in the development and commercialization of water processing/treatment systems, processes, chemistries or equipment preferred.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 20% of the time
