Department

This position reports to our Quality Control, Receiving Inspection Department in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Under minimal supervision, inspects FMC Technologies Inc. products and/or outsourced components and materials and verifies conformance to requirements through visual and dimensional inspection.
• Becomes proficient in assigned areas and continuously meets or exceeds quality, safety and production targets.
• Understand and competently demonstrates advanced inspection techniques, processes and equipment.

Main Tasks

• Learns to read DBI’s, blueprints and quality instructions to determine dimension specifications, measurements and tests required to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.
• Verifies calibration of inspection tools prior to beginning assignment.
• Knows how to use measuring devices such as rulers, OD and ID micrometers, Gagemaker, Pi Tape, Ball over Mic, and Calipers to ensure that dimensions of production parts or materials and/o r parts from outside suppliers are in conformance with quality specifications and the detailed requirements of the DBI.
• Records inspection results and completes reports and related documentation or data entry in an accurate and timely manner.
• Reports nonconforming product to the appropriate person.
• Learns to use more advanced testing equipment and instruments such as indicators, comparators and the coordinate measuring machine.
• Works in a safe manner and keeps all employees and visitors to work area aware of potential dangers.
• Practices good housekeeping in work area and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:
• Must possess a clear understanding of high school math and have the ability to read, write and comprehend English.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred. Drafting, Engineering or Machining background helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to perform dimensional measurement.
• Demonstrated ability of inspection capabilities according to requirements.
• Ability to comprehend and understand geometric tolerancing on blueprints.
• Ability to comprehend Data Base Information. Typically has one to three years' experience in a manufacturing environment with some knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.
• Must be able to operate material handling equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interface with co-workers.
• Personnel performing visual examination shall have an eye examination on an annual basis and shall be able to demonstrate natural or corrected near-distance acuity in at least one eye by reading a Jaeger Number 1 test chart or equivalent at a distance of 12-15 inches.
