Network Administrator
We
are looking for a self-directed, committed and strongly qualified
systems & applications administrator to join our Support Tools
development team at our Santa
Clara, CA office. The UNIX System & Application Administrator works closely with corporate IT,
application owners / developers and third party vendors to deploy, maintain and debug the applications
that run BRS Customer Support. To be successful in this role, the Administrator has in-depth
understanding of the entire software stack. The Administrator works with IT to define and configure
hardware and operating systems; installs, configures and maintains dependent packages; and
administers the applications. The Administrator functions as point person of the team that has primary
operational responsibility of these applications and as such, defines operational support strategy and
leads tactical operational problem-solving efforts. The Administrator acts as an advocate for our end
users and the public face of Support Tools, so courtesy, diplomacy and grace under pressure are
fundamental to the role. The Administrator helps define and execute the business continuity strategy
including backup and recovery approaches and disaster recovery plans. Due to the data-centric
orientation of the team, the Administrator must have fundamental SQL skills.

Job Requirements
• Maintain the list of Support Tools software assets
• Install, configure, administer and support the LAMP stack
• Install/upgrade, configure, administer and support end-user software products (in-house CRM
system, customer web portal, file upload system)
• Create and maintain interfaces to systems external to BRS Customer Support, such as SAP,
Oracle, Salesforce.com
• Configure and maintain reporting and dashboard subsystems
• Provide front-line support to end-users
• Define debugging tools and aids to reduce troubleshooting time in support efforts
• Perform closed-loop analysis to ensure appropriate steps are being taken to ensure better quality
for future releases
• Coordinate with the Support Tools team to ensure support systems are ready for new releases,
including licensing
• Coordinate with the Web Portal Team to ensure systems are ready for new releases
• Function as liaison between Support Tools and corporate IT organizations
• Keep up-to-date on IT changes (email, authentication) that may impact applications
• Work closely with IT to implement system and application changes and verify correct operation
• Communicate IT’s schedule with project team
• Communicate project requirements to IT

Education
• Minimum BS in computer science, electrical engineering or similar technical degree, or equivalent
experience
• Master’s Degree preferred

• 5 to 15+ years Linux administration experience
• Familiarity with Windows, especially Active Directory
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
• Experience with networking concepts and technologies: QoS, NAT, SSL, HTTP, Firewall, routing,
switching and network protocols
• Scripting: bash, perl, python, php
• MySQL
• Install, configure and administer: MySQL, Apache Web Server, bugzilla, Mediawiki, Tableau,
Hyperic
• Source control: SVN, Perforce
• Understanding of technologies such as: Java, SAN, Fibre Channel, RAID, backup & recovery
• Ability to write & read technical bug reports
