Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing authoritative legal advice and counsel on the interpretation and application of US export control and international trade sanctions laws and regulations to Shell Group companies
- Working closely with the Group Trade Control Counsel to provide clear, practical advice on the effects of export control regulations and sanctions laws on business activities Supporting Trade Control Officers as they advise clients in the development, implementation, and day-to-day operation of appropriate trade control compliance programs
- Assisting Business Trade Control Managers in evaluating export compliance risks and supporting the establishment and maintenance of fit-for-purpose compliance strategies
- Maintaining a key position in client and practitioner networks to assure best practice sharing, issue resolution, and currency with latest regulatory changes Interfacing with other Shell lawyers engaged in this and other areas of the law Making and/or coordinating all non-routine communications with government agencies on export control and sanctions matters Managing the services of outside counsel.
Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Must be a Licensed attorney in good standing in Texas or another jurisdiction.
- Must have a minimum of three years legal experience in the export control/international trade sanctions area with special focus on anti-boycott regulations.
- Have up-to-date and in-depth working knowledge of the relevant laws and regulations and their application
