JOB DESCRIPTION:
As Software Architect, you will architect, design, and develop a wide range of technical solutions focusing on the collection, processing, retrieval and visualization of telecom network information. Our technology and environment is state-of-the-art including Big Data, GIS Mapping, and Predicative Analytics solutions - amongst others.
 
The candidate we seek will be highly motivated with a passion for learning new technologies. S/he thinks out-of-the-box and can identify issues and creative solutions, regardless of the technology—a true computer scientist/engineer. We are looking for someone interested in being hands-on, but also has the ability and experience to operate in the capacity of Software Architect.
 
This person must be strong technically, but have a understanding of business and operational processes to ensure the solution closely matches the needs of the corporation. This position requires frequent contact with teammates to assess, recommend, and develop data centric technical solutions to automate, integrate, and enhance operational systems and processes. This person must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work independently, as well as lead working level teams.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design, develop, and implement large-scale systems built on enterprise application frameworks (Java Spring - Java Groovy/Grails)
· Design a next generation network design and planning application architecture for automation, GIS mapping, and historical data analytics.
· UI/UX design
· Data persistence abstraction tools/frameworks
· Threading and Distributed systems
· Managing the information and data modeling of solutions.
· Provide best practices around application design, modeling, scalability and performance.
· Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of enterprise class solutions.
· Construct specifications, provide fault isolation and resolution, tune applications for optimum performance, and implement disaster recovery and contingency plans.
· Work with existing big data architecture components using Hadoop, Microsoft PDW, Netezza, and SAP HANA.
· Work directly with Business Architects to translate business requirements into conceptual and information and system models.
· Develop, implement and promote architectural standards and frameworks, allowing for a flexible and scalable environment.
· Lead team to achieve operational excellence.
 
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology (IT) or equivalent qualification
· 7+ years experience in web application design and modeling
· 7+ years experience in a large scale enterprise application integration and development
· 5+ years experience in Java application development with Groovy / Grails
· 5+ years experience in application development with another technology (.NET MVC, Python, etc)
· 3+ years experience in data management, data warehousing / design, storage, and database implementation
· 3+ years experience in database development and performance tuning
 
Non-Technical SKILLS:
· Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
· Ability to lead teams of 4 or more
· Good knowledge of data management best practices and standards
· Good knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies (SCRUM, XP, etc)
· Good knowledge of common software design patterns
· Basic understanding of telecom and networking technologies

· HTML 4 / 5

· Javascript (Jquery & prototype)
· Webservices development (SOAP, XML, JSON, XAML, WSDL)
· Java/J2EE
