What You’ll Do
John Deere Horicon Works is seeking a Riding Lawn Equipment Design Engineer to design, prototype, and analyze Riding Lawn Tractor systems and components. In addition, you will:
- Evaluate alternative design solutions to improve cost, quality, reliability and performance.
- Develop design solutions using PTC software (Creo).
- Oversee the building of components and assemblies with the experimental shop or factory, help to create the test and analysis plans for product verification and validation, and use FEA as needed to analyze new designs.
- Create the experimental specification in PDMLink and work with the design coordinator to adopt the spec.
- Use planning tools to maintain project schedules.
- Apply existing applications to routine problems.
- Work with supply management, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, and marketing - providing technical support as needed.
- Learn and apply company engineering policies and practices; learn company products.
What It Takes
We need an excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems
and working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have a Bachelor’s
degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent
experience. In addition, we require:
- At least 1 year of product development experience.
- Experience with Pro-Engineer or other CAE software package.
A strong candidate will also have:
- Riding Lawn Equipment product design experience.
- General understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment (JD and competitors).
- Experience with PDMLink and SAP to create parts and bills of material.
- Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Development Process.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, theory and practice.
- Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems.
