A key component of the marketing function at John Deere is the product support team. Members of the team provide technical assistance to John Deere dealers through the Dealer Technical Assistance Center (DTAC) hotline. The work is challenging, fast–paced and very fulfilling. Product support professionals work with every area of the company, including engineering, service parts, manufacturing, marketing, the branch organization, dealers and customers. Through exposure to all facets of our business, individuals can identify other areas of the company that may serve as a future career path.
 
What You'll Do
 
John Deere Horicon Works is seeking a Product Support Representative-Riding Lawn Equipment to provide product or technical support to field teams, channel partners, or customers on advanced problems. In addition, you will:
  • Follow Customer Support processes and standards, as well as warranty policies and procedures within the Warranty Administration Manual.
  • Drive activities to improve reliability and serviceability of products.
  • Prioritize problems and research solutions, author and enter documentation on complex technical issues and solutions into Dealer Technical Assistance Center (DTAC) database.
  • Participate in or lead Warranty Reduction projects.
  • Work closely with factory Engineering, Quality and Assembly, and Sales Branches to resolve DTAC cases.
  • Participate in development and/or execution of field programs for product non-conformance.
  • Travel to the field (less than 20%) to collect failure data to provide problem definition and to assist in product problem resolution.
  • Develop and deliver training for products, services or initiatives.
  • Assist Marketing by representing Product Support at promotional events for branches or other channel partners.

What It Takes

 
 
We need a solid communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment. Ideally, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology, Education, or any Business related discipline, or equivalent work experience. Additionally, we require:
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and business correspondence skills.
  • Customer interaction regarding products, parts, and services.
  • Strong analytical skills.   
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, engineering to customer support.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and creating spreadsheets, charts, and other documents.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 20% (both domestic and international-must have valid driver’s license).
  • Technical experience related to diagnostics of engines and mechanical/electrical systems.
A strong candidate will also have:
  • Knowledge of DTAC (Dealer Technical Assistance Center) system.
  • Understanding of John Deere Customer Support Processes.
  • Understanding of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP).
  • Ability to read prints and electrical schematics.
  • Experience in training and development area involved in activities such as instruction, needs assessments, curriculum development.
  • Knowledge of Turf products, customers, markets and competitors.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma.
