Responsibilities
· Lead the development of business terms, contracting, and
negotiation process. If there is a negotiation team, lead the team.
· Identify all the key client stakeholders – client
decision makers, and other stakeholders influencing business terms,
negotiation and contracting outcomes.
· Identify all the key Quintiles stakeholders – EC and
other stakeholders influencing business terms, negotiation and
contracting outcomes.
· Define and manage a documented negotiation strategy -
given the client’s and Quintiles’s interests, competitive landscape, and
each party’s best alternative to a negotiated agreement (BATNA) –
working with sales and delivery leads to ensure consistency of message
delivery.
· Develop the negotiation plan and set realistic and achievable time scales
· Be prepared for the negotiation. Being prepared for a
negotiation means Quintiles has the facts in line, relationships with
the players, prepared for contingencies, and a clear vision of the
desired outcome.
· Manage the negotiation at the table. Identify the
Quintiles personnel who will be present during the negotiation,
including each individual’s roles and expected participation. Adjust
the team as necessary as the negotiation proceeds.
· Actively manage the client’s and Quintiles’s expectations
throughout the negotiation process. Actively manage the client team’s

· Identify Quintiles’s decision makers and agree upon the authority to negotiate and the escalation process in advance
· Work closely with the Legal and Commercial Lead assigned
to the deal to factor L&C advice into the negotiations and maximize
their contribution to the process (its objectivity, its business acumen,
its global reach, and its experience).
· Work closely with the Finance & Pricing leads to
factor financial input into the contract and negotiations process and
adjust the contract provisions as appropriate.
· Work closely with the Transition Program Lead to factor
due diligence input and results into the contract and negotiations
process
· Adhere to Quintiles’s global contracting standards during the development of negotiated agreements.
· Work through Deal COE business processes to foresee and
obtain pre-approval for variances and positions as necessary to move
through the negotiation process smoothly. When unanticipated issues
arise during negotiations, coordinate communication and escalation to
obtain timely
