Job Summary & Responsibilities
Duties: Lead technology teams in the design, testing, and implementation of technical solutions that enable the Firm’s GSS Risk Managers and Margin Lending Operations teams to analyze Client’s Risk Requirement calculated by internally-developed algorithms and mathematical models. Meet with the Firm’s Risk users to understand requirements, assess feasibility of proposed changes, and compile measures/deliverables. Develop project plans, identify key milestones, and raise critical project issues such as resource needs and contingencies. Work with technical and functional team leads and project managers from various divisions within the Firm (including Strategists, Market Data Services, Trade Processing, Custody and Operations Technology teams) to discuss the technical designs and come up with an effort estimates. Perform code and design reviews. Develop/test technology solutions over a number of iterations either individually or with other team members based on the size and effort of the project. Setup and run the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase, engage the stakeholders and acquire business signoff. Update system documentation to reflect any changes. Maintain relationship with external software vendors: perform software evaluation, collect requirements for vendor software enhancements from Risk Managers and maintain ongoing communication with the vendor and Risk Managers regarding feasibility and cost efficiency related to the implementation of requested changes, manage testing and deployment cycle related to versioning and software releases by the vendor. Migrate the changes to production, perform thorough checkouts to ensure the changes were successfully applied, and provide ongoing production support. Depending on specific project requirements, develop applications utilizing the following technologies: C++, Java, SecDb/Slang, Shell/Perl Scripting, Autosys, Sybase, Sybase IQ, DB2, EMS, Mongo DB, Cloud and Web related technologies. Work on maintenance development tasks which require deep understanding of the existing architecture and the Firm’s technical strategy in order to improve the architecture for scalability and/or stability. Work on enhancement development tasks which require an understanding of the Firm’s Risk methodologies and will involve direct interaction with GSS Strategists and Risk Managers. Advise customers on discrete business problems and evaluate alternative solutions. Mentor junior developers, provide career guidance/coaching, and provide annual performance reviews. Must be willing to work with proprietary technologies. No knowledge of proprietary technologies is required pre-hire.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Computer/Information Science or Computer Engineering or Master’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Computer/Information Science or Computer Engineering plus five (5) years of experience (if Bachelor’s) as a developer with hands on experience in an object oriented language (e.g. Java/C++) and an RDMS (e.g. Sybase.)
Three (3) years of experience (if Master’s degree) as a developer with hands on experience in an object oriented language (e.g. Java/C++) and an RDMS (e.g. Sybase.).
Must have three (3) years of experience in the following: developing applications using either Java or C++; developing, maintaining and supporting applications in UNIX/Linux run-time environments; developing applications that can efficiently process files in Perl/C++/Java and persist to an RDBMS or Cloud storage; developing ad-hoc reports using Perl/Shell/SQL; developing applications that can read and transform large amounts of data into succinct business reports displayed in Excel / GUI application; writing and optimizing SQL queries, performing complex data extraction and data modeling for Sybase/DB2 in large scale environment represented by millions of record sets and distributed deployments; developing multi-threaded applications in Java or C++ capable of operating concurrently in highly scalable distributed environment; working through the full Software Development Lifecycle process, particularly code reviews and testing; working with financial products, including basic knowledge or Equities and Fixed Income products, pricing and risk analytics; working in a client-facing technology analyst/developer and technology project lead role; proven record of expertise in requirements specification, design, coding, and testing of information systems; proven record of leading technology teams,
project management and coordination, prioritization, code and design reviews, career guidance and coaching, and annual performance reviews; and proven record of maintaining relationship with external software vendors, with responsibilities that include performing software evaluation, collecting requirements for vendor software enhancements from internal users, maintaining ongoing communication with the vendor and internal users regarding feasibility and cost efficiency related to the implementation of requested changes, managing testing and deployment cycle related to versioning and software releases by the vendor.
