Responsibilities:

  • The primary function of the Pressure Equipment Inspector (PEI) is to assure integrity, safety and reliability of the pressure equipment in his/her assigned area(s)

  • The PEI must be predictive with regard to equipment integrity

  • Monitor the equipment to assess the effects of corrosion and other degradation processes.

  • Obtain and analyze data and make recommendations to assure that the pressure equipment is in a mechanically safe condition for continued operation; including but is not limited to: Knowledge obtained by monitoring equipment for physical degradation; recognizing operational upsets or changes which could lead to changes in corrosion rates or patterns; and comparing the data with pressure equipment records, as well as consultations with the technical staff

  • Thorough inspection, documentation, surveillance, and recommendations.

  • Understand the requirements and concepts of Non-Destructive evaluation and apply appropriate NDE practices and methods to obtain appropriate information

  • Familiar with basic corrosion and other degradation mechanisms and the effect on equipment

  • Inspect and monitor the condition of this equipment with the purpose of detecting corrosion or other physical phenomena that may lead to an unsafe condition, failure of the equipment, or deterioration of its intended function based on the relevant API codes and corporate standards

  • Perform basic inspection tasks such as conducting thorough examinations, taking physical measurements, evaluating inspection results including basic NDE data, and developing recommendations for future inspections, repair and replacement

  • Investigate all failures of pressure equipment to determine the cause or suspected cause

  • Familiar with concepts of Risk Based Inspection methodology

  • Maintain and execute the Risk Based Inspection Plan for each piece of pressure equipment in each area of responsibility

  • Maintain thorough and accurate records on the inspection and maintenance of each piece of pressure equipment in their area of responsibility, including the recording of inspection measurements and observations

  • Set intervals for Pressure Equipment ) vessels, columns, piping, exchangers, tanks, etc.) in their unit assignment and execute all field inspections within the required next inspection dates

  • Maintain schedules for internal, external, non-intrusive and corrosion inspections for all equipment showing the interval and next inspection date

  • Provide basic quality assurance during equipment fabrication, alteration and repair

Requirements:

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

  • High school diploma is required

  • Minimum three (3) years experience as a Visual Inspector required

  • Must possess at least one of the following certifications: API 510, API 570, and/or API 653

  • Must earn a 2nd of the required certification within one (1) year

  • Possession of all three major API inspection certifications is strongly preferred: API 510, API 570, API 653

  • Currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.

  • Strong leadership and organization skills; able to prioritize assignments

  • Basic computer skills in Word, Excel, and Power Point are desired

  • Knowledge of computerized inspection records programs is preferable.

  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and to work at heights

  • Must be physically able and willing to work in confined spaces as well as outside in inclement weather

  • Must be willing to work occasional over-time, evenings, weekends and holidays in response to urgent operational needs
