Overview:
The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) works
in partnership with country governments, partners, and other major
stakeholders to identify the key obstacles to access and scale-up of
essential health services and to develop sustainable strategies to
overcome them. CHAI’s solution-oriented approach focuses on improving
market dynamics for medicines and diagnostics; lowering prices for
treatment; accelerating access to life-saving vaccines and technologies;
and helping governments build the capacity required for high-quality
care and treatment programs.
The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is looking for a Program Manager, New Initiatives – HIV, TB and Health Financing based
in New York to support new projects in the HIV, TB and Health Financing
group. The group was launched in 2013 to incubate new and innovative
projects related to these three CHAI focus areas.
The
Program Manager will report to the Director of New Initiatives – HIV,
TB and Health Financing, and will be focused on projects primarily
related to TB prevention and control.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with international partners, CHAI
is launching a new initiative to better understand the burden of TB
across the mining industry in Southern Africa – and develop actionable
solutions to address the burden. The Program Manager will be responsible
for planning, supervising and implementing project activities, such as
data collection, cost analysis and materials development. S/he will
also work very closely with international partners and relevant Country
Team Program Managers, Analysts, and stakeholders in CHAI focus
countries. This is a challenging but rewarding position which will have
direct impact on thousands of people in need of life-saving
interventions. It is an opportunity to work closely with in-country
teams to identify and develop systems and tools that will increase
access to and facilitate better management of resources for TB and other
diseases.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree from a well-recognized, high-caliber institution in a relevant field
- A minimum of five years of experience in a private or public sector enterprise, with increasing levels of responsibility and experience managing other individuals
- Very strong quantitative skills, including experiencing developing or evaluating financial models
- Strong program management experience including managing and recruiting teams, developing and evaluating budgets, creating and implementing work plans, and monitoring both program and staff performance
- Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills
- Natural ability to build strategic relationships and interact with individuals of different backgrounds
- English language fluency, both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
- Good strategic thinker able to think creatively around long-term program objectives and the detailed steps necessary to achieve these goals.
- Ability to multi-task and to be effective in high-pressure situations, and able to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, both internally and externally
- Ability to work independently on complex projects and solve challenging problems with limited structural or operational support
- Strong analytical skills and technical proficiency with MS Excel and PowerPoint
Advantages:
- Work experience in management consulting, finance and similar private enterprises, or in economics and public sector financing
- Experience working in developing countries, particularly on TB or TB/HIV coinfection
- Experience in study design, particularly related to economic or epidemiological analysis
- Experience working with recipient country governments and international partners in country
- Programming languages proficiency such as python, and good facility with Microsoft ACCESS or similar open source software
