As an IT professional you have expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Because of your excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle, you have the ability to direct project teams in the gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. You get to work closely with and learn from the brightest minds to ensure proper system design. Your role ensures highest quality implementations from design through quality insurance to production. You anticipate hardware and software design needs to take pre-emptive action. Our IT professionals support multiple team members and other project leads in day-to-day activities related to project work.

The Lead Developer has expert knowledge in one or more programming languages or databases. Excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle. Ability to guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs. Must present ideas to review boards. The Lead Developer must work closely with architects to ensure proper system design. Ensures highest quality implementations from design through QA to production. Assists multiple team members and other project leads in the day-to-day activities related to project work. Must be able to anticipate hardware and software design needs. The Lead Developer must have the ability to view packages and products to determine their viability within the solution being considered, or if they would be a good solution in other areas.


The candidate is an individual that is:


  • Highly skilled working with B2B / EDI products, including GXS Bizlink.

  • Able to define, plan and implement highly complex B2B solutions on assigned projects.

  • Proficient in proving ongoing application support and coordinating activities with onshore and offshore contractor resources.

  • Able to participate in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex in-house tracking and reporting tools related to B2B/EDI products.

  • Able to present ideas and solutions at peer reviews and development sessions.

  • Capable of ensuring the highest quality deliverables.

  • Able to assist and train own and other team members in the day-to-day activities related to project work and B2B.

  • Able to develop the total technical design of highly complex B2B projects from business requirements.

  • Provide technical direction and training to associate developers, developers and contractors.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -


  • View software packages, products and define, prioritize, plan and implement solutions across multiple complex projects.

  • Ensure the team comprehends and applies the established processes, policies, standards and procedures.

  • Provide status reports to Manager and review boards on complex development projects.

  • Guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs.

  • Ensure compliance and conduct appropriate test reviews as necessary.

NATURE AND SCOPE -


  • Typically reports to Manager, Information Technology

  • No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the technical leadership of a project work team: may select team members and assess capabilities, provide technical training, provide information necessary to meet work, project or program objectives, evaluate program or project performance.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

Must be eighteen years of age or older. Must pass the Drug Test. Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE -

7+

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -


  • Proficient knowledge of B2B processes on multiple platforms running multiple databases.

  • Extensive knowledge of B2B mapping and business process development using various EDI products.

  • Extensive knowledge of GXS Bizlink Sterling Commerce EDI products.

  • Knowledge of UNIX scripting and Java.

  • Knowledge of JCL a plus.

  • The ability to assist project teams with the creation of business requirements for B2B related processes.

  • The ability to convert business requirements into the total technical design for an entire B2B implementation to be run in production.

  • The ability to guide and direct work on multiple concurrent projects.

  • The ability to provide technical direction and training to associate developers, developers and contractors.

  • An understanding of life cycle development requirements through production implementation and post production support.

  • The knowledge and verbal skills to present at the various review boards.

  • The ability to promote and follow established processes, policies, standards and procedures to assure compliance with department, corporate and regulatory policies and standards.

  • A strategic view of B2B applications and how they fit into the retail space.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -


  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

  • Ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences, both business and technical.

  • Understands the financial implications of the project (i.e. software capitalization, cost/benefits, etc.).
