MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -



  • Accountable for leading the information architecture, wireframes, storyboards, prototypes and other artifacts to effectively communicate UX design to software engineering

  • Define UX standards/guidelines and influence front-end technology direction to ensure consistency among product features and a cohesive approach across Home Depot digital assets

  • Effectively partner with software engineering teams and business/functional stakeholders throughout the SDLC processes to drive user experience goals

  • Ensure alignment of UX design deliveries with business needs and technology capabilities

  • Provide input into annual budget planning for technology migrations and project cost estimation

  • Select, develop, and motivate UX design teams

NATURE AND SCOPE -


  • Typically reports to a Vice President

  • Has supervisory responsibilities for technical staff.

  • Typically requires frequent persuasion and influencing of others. Usually assigns and reviews work of others

  • Typically considers new courses of action within broad policies and medium-term goals when solving problems

  • Typically determines what should be done in a functional area or business unit within the broad policies and principles or very general goals.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 10

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -


  • 10+ years experience leading user-centered design and experiences development teams for websites, desktop applications, and mobile platforms

  • Expert level understanding of information architecture, interactive design, user experience, and content strategy

  • Extensive experience with technologies such as xHTML, CSS3, HTML5, JavaScript, Jquery, Ext JS, Actionscript 2&3, AJAX, etc.

  • Experience with tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Maya, ZBrush, Axure RP, Omnigraffle, Tableau, Keynote, Skitch, etc

  • Experience with collaborative thinking and decision-making, preferably with agile or related development methodology

  • Interdisciplinary, open-minded approach to problem-solving

  • Experience with on-shore/off-shore design/development models

  • Experience with management and delivery of large-scale software applications design and websites

  • Exceptional communication skills, team building and associate growth/development experience

  • Ability to lead leaders

  • Ability to manage team of 30-50 internal and external UX designers and information architects

  • Ability to attract, motivate and retain world-class UX talent

  • Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills

  • Degree in User Interface or Human Interface Design fields
