Description


Provides SAS consulting services, including solution architecture, solution development and implementation at customer sites focused on:
• SAS Platform Technologies (SAS Metadata Server, SAS Integration Technologies, Base SAS)
• High Performance Analytics (HPA Server, SAS Grid Manager and Visual Analytics)
• Integration of SAS products into complex customer IT architectures
Assists the sales team as required with technical sales activities to maximize revenue opportunities and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.  Develops and enhances personal and group skills primarily for the benefit of the implementation/delivery process. Strong knowledge of SAS products for participation in design and implementation of complex solution architectures; participates in design process; ability to relate technical concepts to SAS System applications and user needs and oversees the technical progress of ongoing services. Focused on the underlying SAS technology core and also specialize in specific technical issues such as security, system integration, user interface.
Responsibilities:
• Works on consulting projects and special projects as assigned; acts as technical lead as assigned.
• Scopes and defines work effort, resource plan, and estimates cost on phase/project. Conducts project requirements gathering.
• Analyzes all information gathered during the sales cycle to provide technical requirements to translate sales technical vision into a detailed technical implementation proposal.
• Provides reliable delivery of targeted project results through role as expert in the application of specific SAS methodologies, projects and technologies.
• May perform advanced or complex prototyping for SAS foundation technologies.
• Installs SAS software solutions and any required supporting products for knowledge sharing and demonstration purposes as assigned.
• Leverages detailed technical knowledge to support sales opportunities and implementations across solution domains.
• Understands, utilizes and communicates best practice methodologies and industry standards internally and externally.
• Delivers standard and/or customized software demonstrations and presentations outlining the technical features, competitive advantages and business benefits of the SAS software as they apply to client needs.
• May conduct pre-sales implementations to prove functional capabilities, including on-site support as required.
• Builds a trusted relationship with the client to provide practical guidance in the functional and technical aspects of proposed software and set proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications


Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field; with
• 5 years of technical consulting, systems engineering, project management, applications development and/or technical customer support
• Demonstrated expertise with the SAS9 Platform including security, metadata modeling and complex deployment architectures.
• Travel 75% of the time as business needs dictate

Essential Equivalent

• Associates degree in the same fields plus and 2 years of the stated essential qualifications ~OR~
• High School diploma (GED) plus an additional 4 years of the stated essential
qualifications

• Hands on expertise gathering requirements, designing, building, implementing and testing applications
• Superior problem solving, organizational, decision-making written, oral and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of software or applications development life cycle
• Ability to conceptualize clients' needs and translate into specific implementation strategies
• Strong facilitation and communications skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferences

• Professional experience and proficiency in web technologies including but not limited to Java including JSP, Servlets, EJB and JMS, HTML, XML, JavaScript, ASP and CGI technologies
• Professional experience with one or more Unix or Linux operating systems
