Provide leadership and electro-mechanical expertise to all functional areas, and other maintenance teams as needed. Assist all manufacturing teams and maintenance departments in reaching goals pertaining to safety, quality, productivity and housekeeping. Help ensure machine reliability meets team objectives.

Incumbents report to maintenance team leader. Provides the team and mill with a hands-on technical resource with the knowledge and background to analyze problems and develop and implement solutions in the electrical and mechanical maintenance fields. Is knowledgeable and proficient in both the electrical and mechanical crafts. Responsibilities also include meeting business objectives in machine reliability, uptime, yield, and customer requirements and providing support in functional area. Must possess leadership skills to help with the development of others within the maintenance and operating teams 

Qualifications

 
Basic:
• High school diploma or GED equivalency
• Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts including nights, holidays, weekends and overtime
• Read and write basic English
• 5 years of maintenance and troubleshooting experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting
• Basic computer skills; Excel, MS Word, email
• Must understand preventive/predictive/proactive maintenance concepts

Preferred:
• Two-year degree technical degree or apprenticeship or equivalent
• Experience with high-speed manufacturing and converting equipment
• Plastics and extrusion experience
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.


Mechanical skills in the following areas:
Essential Functions:
1. First Class Millwright
• Know all alignment procedures
• Rebuilding of gear boxes and pumps
• Know bearings and proper way to check
• Must be able to explain different type pumps - and where used
• Different couplings and where used.
• Know all basic hand tools and precision tools.

2. Welding & Pipe Fitting
• Must be able to certify on plate test - flat - vertical -overhead
• Weld stainless and black pipe - both stick and tig
• Explain proper way to prepare pipe for welding
• Lay out pipe for shop fabrication
• Knowledge of different type rods and where to use

3. Machinist
• Good working knowledge of lathe, mill, keyseater, hydraulic press
• Bore couplings
• Make pump shafts, including threading
• Size bearing fits or shafts


4. Electrical
• Working knowledge of low and medium voltage systems
• Knowledge of and can troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLC’s and drives
• Experienced in calibration of pressure temperature flow instrumentation

• Problem solving and decision making skills
• Motivated self starter
• Must maintain excellent safety and attendance performance
• Good communication and listening skills
