The Enterprise Information team is expanding to meet the demands of a growing Nordstrom business. We are looking for an experienced, operations-minded application DBA with strong hands on experience managing and tuning data warehousing environments. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of leadership in both technical and business domains, is proficient in database and data warehousing technology and is passionate about data! Our environment has a mix of Oracle and Teradata data warehouses.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Database admin support for mission critical data warehouses
  • Perform analysis of complex business requirements to determine appropriate solutions
  • Assist application development with database design considerations
  • Query optimization and tuning
  • Participate in design reviews and code reviews
  • Conduct root cause analysis to resolve complex system problems and implement mitigation strategies
  • Perform security administration and access auditing
  • Define and implement monitoring to ensure SLA compliance
  • Participate in on-call support rotation
 

 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
  • 5+ years of experience as a DBA in a data warehouse environment with Oracle and/or Teradata
  • Deep knowledge of data warehousing concepts including data modeling (star and snowflake schema design patterns) data profiling techniques
  • Solid knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL and shell scripting
  • Deep understanding of query profiling and performance tuning
  • Experience with PII and PCI data is a plus
  • Knowledge of Teradata (architecture, concepts and tooling) is a plus
  • Strong planning, organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively 
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
