American Express Campus Undergraduate – Operations Summer Internship 2013-14

Opportunities exist within Consumer Services in New York, NY. Consumer Services (CS) develops new products and partnerships as well as the marketing and servicing aspects of our charge and lending card products in the U.S. The operations interns will sit within the Operations & Marketing Capabilities Group in CS focusing on the control and compliance of our marketing strategies and processes.

Our well-established Summer Intern Program will provide high-performing Undergraduate students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in projects that have strategic, operational or financial significance to the company. Interns will meet line of business and leaders from all levels and have a chance to learn about the culture and values of the organization as well as network across regions and functions.

What will you do #foraliving?

* Evaluate processes to optimize operational performance, satisfaction, and economics
* Analyze trends in servicing interactions and identify opportunities for American Express
- Identify risks on overall processes or specific marketing campaigns/offers highlighting the possible process breakdowns, potential compliance/regulatory risks, and provide input on solutions

* Work with internal clients and support groups in cross-functional teams to drive strategies that enhance the merchant and cardmember experience and drive business growth
* Implement process/product improvements to deliver measurable results
* Identify capabilities to achieve transformation of both the customer experience and shareholder outcomes
* Support the business with process improvements, feasibility analyses, demand management, and defect elimination for the purposes of generating cost-savings and improve customer satisfaction
* Work closely with Operations leaders and Project Managers to identify new opportunities and work on developing and implementing existing ideas and projects
- Help develop systematic and preventative controls to mitigate risks

Qualifications

* Analytical problem solvers and project managers with a strong control mindset
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
* Background in quantitative analysis with strong reporting skills and proficiency in Excel
* Excellent communicators – with the ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and easy to understand manner
* Relationship skills and ability to work cross-organizationally to influence others, drive change, and implement projects
* Enrolled in full-time undergraduate degree program in Operations, Engineering Strategy concentration or related coursework
