American Express–Creative Designer Summer Internship 2013-14

The Creative Designer at American Express will be part of the User Experience Design and Prototyping team, a talented and innovative group of UX strategists, designers and prototypers who follow a lean UX approach to creating and building digital experiences for the U.S. and international markets.

The Creative Designer provides in-house support across the enterprise, which will allow him/her to work with many innovative groups across the company. The Creative Designer will contribute to projects that are part of a “fail fast” UX approach but also provide design for projects already in production.

This is a very exciting opportunity for someone who wants to help shape the next generation of digital products for one of the world’s top brands. In fact, American Express has won the JD Power Award six years in a row, including “Best in Web Interaction” for the Credit Card Industry. This person will play a pivotal role in ensuring that trend continues.

What will you do #foraliving?

* Create and manage projects from concept through production; provide innovative, conceptual, consistent design cross devices.
* Collaborate closely with other UX Design and Prototyping team members and consult with product teams to ensure creative concepts meet project requirements as well as style and brand guidelines.
* The successful candidate should prove to have an ability to interpret requirements, establish the creative vision, have strong interpersonal skills to communicate that vision, be highly motivated, organized and detail-oriented.
* Follow a “fail fast” lean UX approach designing and testing ideas quickly with customers to ensure the best possible design.

Qualifications

Here are the skills and experiences we’re looking for. Do these describe you?
- Strong design portfolio with samples of work across devices

* Proven experience with responsive, mobile, tablet, UX design and interaction.
* Highly skilled in the full creative process - ideation, sketching, wireframing, and creative design.
* Proven track record of executing large-scale web and software application interface design.
* Effective communication skills (both in conversation and in writing), especially focused on running collaborative workshops and articulating design strategies
* Familiarity in the prototyping capabilities of HTML, DHTML, and CSS; with iRise/Axure knowledge a plus.
* Expertise with design tools and software, most notably Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Visio, OmniGraffle etc...
