The Lead Software Engineer will work with a group of energized and focused software professionals, analytics researchers, data scientists and domain experts in the areas of big data processing, text mining and analytics visualization leveraging contemporary tools, technologies and development methodologies to build prognostic and diagnostic products using sensor data from smart devices.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will:

  • Act as a member of the Software Center of Excellence, representing the face of high quality design and development practices
  • Develop high performing, scaling and innovative end-to-end web applications
  • Collaborate with system engineers, frontend developers and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience developing Java software and/or web applications

  • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA
  • Must be willing to travel

  • Have a solid understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application
  • Demonstrated expertise developing Core Java applications ( Java 1.6 or later )
  • Experience developing web applications ( Spring MVC, RESTful, SOAP, Jersey, RestEasy, JAX-RS, JAX-WS, Web Services, Struts, JSP )
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as Javascript, HTML5, CSS, GWT, AngularJS, BackboneJS, EmberJS, jQuery, KnockoutJS
  • Experience with database tools ( JPA, Hibernate, TopLink, JDBC )
  • Experience with rules engines ( Camel, Drools, Quartz, JRules )
  • Experience with modern tooling ( Gradle, Maven, Git, SVN )
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in an Agile development environment ( Scrum, XP, TDD )
  • Solid understanding of Linux or Unix operating systems (Bash, Perl, PHP, Python)
  • Experience with Big Data analytics ( NoSQL, Cassandra, Hadoop, MongoDB, CouchDB, MapReduce, Mahout, Oracle Exadata, SAS )
