What You’ll Do
As a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) for John Deere
in Moline, IL, you will serve as an expert and be routinely involved in
decision making relative to database processes and standards, technology
or business related issues. In addition, you will:
- Maintain broad contact with multiple functional and business partners on strategic business relationships and projects
- Apply detailed analysis to optimize Information Technology (IT) infrastructure in support of major business processes
- Implement and optimize the integration of new SQL Server Database infrastructure (database installs, upgrades, patches, etc.) using approved IT processes
- Lead / facilitate / participate on projects or group meetings or teams responsible for strategic projects or projects that span two or more functional areas
- Manage the current SQL Server infrastructure to allow for maximum availability (security management, monitoring backups, recovery, etc), at a minimum cost, and optimize performance in a complex environment for multiple business processes
What It Takes
We need an excellent communicator, both written and verbal, who
thrives on solving problems and working in a global team environment.
Ideally, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a
similar discipline and/or equivalent work experience. We also require:
- Production experience in SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 ( i.e., in installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining databases)
- Production Clustering and Mirroring experience
- Experience with database backups, recoveries and data restorations
- Experience in analyzing, translating and defining business requirements into technical solutions
- Experience in managing multiple projects at a time
- Willingness to participate in 24x7 on-call rotations
A strong candidate will also have:
- 5+ years’ experience managing production SQL Server databases experience
- Experience in working with Quest products (Performance Analysis, Spotlight, Toad, Lite Speed)
- Ability and willingness to work with a global support team
- Powershell scripting experience
