Job description

This position is for a Senior Network System Engineer to support a global network. This position is for a Tier3 support engineer to provide support for a Tier 2 Network Operations Center (NOC), and overall network ownership of network devices in over 90 locations across the globe. The candidate should have very strong architectural skills, and be very knowledgeable of Cisco DMVPN technologies, and Xirrus wireless arrays. This position will also entail innovation and roadmap direction of improvements in processes, equipment, and configurations. The candidate will work closely with the security group, server teams, and various other groups within the agency. The candidate will be responsible for escalation support (diagnosis, troubleshooting & resolution), Root Cause Determination (RCA) leadership, network documentation, assessments, and generation and analysis of monthly reports. Occasional overtime may be required from the candidate, and weekly on-call participation is required. The global network is comprised primarily of Cisco components, and requires a highly skilled individual in routing, switching, load balancers, Trusted Internet connections and big picture network analysis. This position is located in the Washington Metro area, and will require occasional travel to local sites. Candidate must be a self-starter, detail oriented, and be able to drive projects to completion. It is also expected that new hires live within a reasonable commuting distance (generally 50 mi or less) of Washington, DC. Exceptions may be considered. The actual work location is either Arlington, VA or Laurel, MD. Selected candidates may not need to travel for all projects outside of their metro area. However, all candidates must be able and willing to travel based on assigned project demand. Travel requirements may vary but could be up to 100%. Required High School Diploma/GED At least 4 years experience in network engineering. At least 4 years experience in network routing and switching. At least 2 years experience in leadership experience. U.S. citizenship required English: Fluent

Preferred Bachelor's Degree At least 4 years experience in dynamic routing protocols. At least 2 years experience in Trusted Internet Connections (TIC). At least 4 years experience in enterprise wireless. At least 3 years experience in Cisco WAN DMVPN. At least 4 years experience in Cisco devices. Security clearance of Secret - Active
