A industry leading proprietary trading firm headquartered in Chicago is looking for a Senior Web & Database Developer to take a business critical role within the firm’s core development team. As a senior member of the team you will be responsible for the development and support of a brand-new internal web-based financial reporting system which aims to serve all business areas within the firm. Ideally you will have experience in identifying the software roadmap and be able to develop the project and implement results from gathering specific requirements as well as playing a hands-on role in the design, development, deployment and support. Initially you will spend time on enhancing and improving the existing system but the main focus will fall on the architectural design and innovation of the next-generation in-house web & database software framework.
Key responsibilities for Senior Web Developer - Application Development
- Take responsibility for the development and support of internal , web based financial reporting system for company-wide use
- Devise and manage project roadmap including requirements gathering from senior stakeholders and design, develop, deploy and support
- Work ad-hoc on current tools and systems but play key role in architecture and innovation of next-generation web & database software framework
- Report to Team Lead/Director Heads
Key skills & qualifications for Senior Web Developer - Application Development
- 5+ years professional web & database experience
- Deep familiarity with service oriented architectures
- Competency in designing and building back-end applications using PHP
- Experience with scripting languages including Perl and/or Python, Shell script
- Javascript (jQuery, Prototype), HTML5 and CSS3
- Expertise with relational databases and developing stored procedures and triggers etc
- Genuine passion for technology and attention to detail
- Written & verbal communication of technical issues and understanding of how to rectify them to business units
