Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets has an opportunity for a Business Analyst to join their New York based team.
Macquarie Funds Group (MFG) is Macquarie Group's funds management business. MFG has been managing assets for pension funds, institutions and retail investors since 1980 in Australia and 1929 in the US (through Delaware Investments). MFG has global reach, with a team of over 1,400 staff located in over 20 countries including Australia, Asia, the UK, Europe and the US.
Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA), which is a part of MFG, is a leader in alternative asset management worldwide, specializing in infrastructure, real estate, agriculture, energy and other real asset classes via public and private funds, co-investments, partnerships and separately managed accounts. Its client base is primarily institutional investors, including global pension and superannuation funds, other institutions and governments. The division is recognized for its expertise over the investment lifecycle, with strong capabilities in investment sourcing, investment management and investor relationships.
Major Responsibilities:
The Business Analyst role in MIRA offers a rare opportunity to gain buy-side experience with a global leader in the sector. The analyst will join the team to assist with the management of portfolio assets and the execution of new investment opportunities. The analyst will work with senior and portfolio executives to pursue transaction opportunities and assist portfolio companies in executing strategic initiatives. - have primary responsibility for the financial modeling and analysis of companies and transactions
- execute detailed financial and valuation analysis of portfolio companies and transactions
- assist asset executives in developing and refining their business plans and strategy, including identifying and delivering operational and financial improvements within portfolio companies
- work with portfolio company senior management to measure and monitor the financial and operational performance and strategic direction of those companies
- identify and execute M&A transactions – both new acquisitions and bolt-on acquisitions for portfolio companies
- execute financing transactions as directed
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- minimum 12-18 months experience in investment banking or private equity
- knowledge of global funds management, investment banking or strategy consulting
- be highly numerate
- have strong financial modeling skills
- have a thorough understanding of financial accounting, corporate finance and business reporting
- possess M&A execution experience; candidates with a well-rounded exposure to buy-side M&A analysis, due diligence, transaction financing and strategic analysis will be preferred
- have an accounting, finance or business management background
- be highly motivated, proactive, and be able to execute critical work streams with limited supervision and direction
- have excellent oral and written communication skills
- possess outstanding interpersonal and team-working skills that will enable the candidate to build relationships with senior team members, colleagues across the Macquarie Group and senior executives in portfolio companies and acquisition targets
- demonstrate sound business judgment and an analytical, pragmatic and creative approach to problem solving
