Description

 
As a Database Administrator for SAS Solutions OnDemand (SSO), you will be responsible for all aspects of our hosted database environment. You will work collaboratively with customers, analysts, developers and other implementation team members to engineer enterprise database installations and to manage, diagnose, debug, design, and prototype SAS and third-party enterprise class software systems. You will support the SSO team with training, expertise, mentoring and best practices with respect to database technology and architecture.

Duties Include:

• Install, configuration, management and monitoring of various database systems.
• Database upgrades, scripting, task automation, backups/recovery
• Documentation of the installation and upgrade processes
• Creating and maintaining engineering documents and system designs
• Maintain appropriate written documentation for operational procedures and system design
• Experience with monitoring systems and diagnostic tools
• SQL and performance tuning at all levels
• Development, adherence, and enforcement of security standards and policies
• Ability to learn other database technologies as supported by SAS Solutions OnDemand
• On call production support (24x7)

Qualifications

 
Essential
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related quantitative field
• 2 years’ experience as a database administrator in at least 2 of the following: Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL or other PostgreSQL based appliances.
• Experience with PERL or other shell/batch scripting languages
• Proficiency in Unix, Linux and Windows Operating Systems

Equivalent Essential
• Associate's degree in the same fields plus 2 years of stated essential qualifications ~ OR ~
• High school diploma (GED) plus 4 years of stated essential qualifications

Additional
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, as well as strong decision making skills
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a team setting
• Ability to interact well with development groups and end users
• Ability to diagnose and resolve problems in a timely fashion
• Ability to work a 24x7 on-call rotation

Preferences• DBA experience more than one of the following: Oracle, MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL Based RDBMS Systems.
• Experience with PL/SQL or other database procedural language
• Experience with Dataguard
• Experience with Oracle RAC or other database HA solutions
• Experience with SAS software
• Experience with 3rd party tools such as Toad, Erwin or other design and db access products
• Experience with Hadoop
