Solutions OnDemand, established in 2000, is a service organization
responsible for providing our full spectrum of SAS Solutions to the ASP
channel for SAS Institute, Inc. Yearly double-digit growth has fueled
the need to improve all operational aspects of our diverse IT
infrastructure, addressing scaling, customer service, and efficiency
issues. As an Information Systems Engineer in the SAS Solutions OnDemand
(SSO) hosting organization, you will use your communication and
technical skills to support internal and external customers in our ASP
hosted environment. You will help design, implement, and support a large
heterogeneous computing environment. You will be responsible for
helping to maintain Service Level Agreements and improve the performance
and reliability of our hosted solutions. The SSO environment is
fast-paced with tight deadlines and shifting priorities. The ability to
adapt and react to complex issues in a timely manner is a desired
attribute.
Primary responsibilities for this role include:

Perform daily administration activities for all SSO servers including analyzing, installing, modifying Operating Systems, storage, applications, backups and account administration.

Assists with the planning (implementation and ongoing usage/forecasting/trending), design, setup and troubleshooting of such items as Operating Systems, systems management software, security software, backup software, productivity applications.

Determines new technology’s needs, including researching, evaluation and cost analysis.

Utilize trouble ticket system to address and resolve customer concerns.
Interface with other SAS groups and departments to enhance the environment or resolve pending issues. -
Maintaining knowledge of diverse infrastructure architecture, security policies and standards and consistently applying these practices.

Troubleshoot hardware, software, or performance problems in the ASP hosted environment.

Develop/Modify system software routines and programs to optimize system administration and business processes.

Interface with customers during problem resolution.

Document and test Standard Operating Procedures for SSO IT related functions.

Develop step-by-step documentation for system support tasks.
Qualifications
Essential
-
Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related quantitative field
-
Minimum 5 years of experience as an Information Systems Engineer or Systems Admin in a heterogeneous, dynamic, customer-focused environment
-
Experience with Redhat Linux (primary) and Windows (secondary) operating systems, minimum experience 3 years
-
Experience with infrastructure architecture including Servers, Network, SAN/Storage (EMC preferred) and Backup Services (Symantec Netbackup Datacenter preferred) to allow for efficient implementation and non-disruptive expansion and upgrades

Shell scripting (Bash, Perl, etc.) experience

Participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule
Equivalent
combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be
considered in place of the requirements stated above

Associate's degree in a related field plus an additional 2 years of the stated essential experience

High School Diploma (GED) plus an additional 4 years of the stated essential experience

Collaborative team experience with superior problem-solving skills

Experience with LDAP or Microsoft Active Directory integration within UNIX/Linux

Understanding best practices around information security and data privacy in relation to system access and availability

Support experience with virtualization technologies

Support experience with host-side SAN storage integration and utilization.

Ability to triage requests with multiple admin resource groups
