Derivatives Ops Liaison I (Job Number: 1313297)

Description

The incumbent will act as Team Leader and Liaison between the client, investment manager, broker and internal areas on all Exchange Traded (ETD) and Over the Counter (OTC) derivative related business events. This includes day to day processing, new client conversions, investment manager restructures, asset allocation changes and de-conversions. He/ She will be responsible for providing business expertise through all stages of the life cycle event, communicating procedures and practices, and ensuring a successful implementation. The incumbent will assist in client presentations where needed. He / She will require a detailed understanding of derivative product features and related operational, accounting and valuation impacts with regard to Futures, Swaps, Options, FX Forwards, and Collateral. The incumbent will assist with the review and maintenance of internal operating procedures, tutorials and training curriculums. They will identify training needs for the section and assist in the creation and utilization of job aids, on-line tutorials, classes, or one-on-one training. They will validate trade and cash transactions, and work closely with the processing teams and other internal areas, to ensure timely and accurate security and cash settlement. The incumbent works closely with internal operations areas including IDS, Accounting, Investment Services Support, Security Lending, Global and Domestic Settlements, Mutual Funds Custody, Client Service, Investment Manager Relations, Complex Securities, and Transmission Support Units, as well as directly with the client, investment manager and broker. The incumbent oversees intra-day and end-of-day control tools and reports, ensuring all activity is accurate and complete. He / She is responsible for the monitoring of fails and overdrafts, and will work to resolve outstanding exceptions timely, and escalate issues as necessary. The incumbent will provide supporting work documentation for all internal quality checks, external reconcilements and industry audits. He / She will assist other team liaisons during high-volume periods, and will report to the Derivative Operations Supervisor.

Qualifications

A Bachelor s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent work experience in investments or banking is required. A Derivatives background is preferred. Minimum of 2 to 3 years combined experience as a Derivative Operations Specialist l and / or Specialist II, or similar related work experience required, 4 to 5 years preferred. Strong customer service and communication skills are required. Knowledge and understanding of the derivatives industry, the players, foreign exchange markets, and settlement practices in domestic and foreign markets is required. Ability to work in a team environment, or individually, and deal effectively with all levels of staff is essential.
