The Automated Fiber Placement specialist will
be a Lead Specialist responsible for the programming and operations of
the automated fiber placement machine, autoclave, clean room system, for
the purpose of developing GE Aviation components.
As an experienced manufacturing process development Specialist, you will be a key member on the Global Research Team focused on:
(1)Developing carbon fiber material components for Aviation products.
(2)You will execute DOE scenarios for developing new composite programs and part configurations.
(3)You will operate the Automated Fiber Placement Machine for new parts.
(4)You will manually lay-up carbon prepreggs to create new or existing parts
(5)You will program and operate a large Autoclave for part cures as required.
You will be working in a cross disciplined R&D environment,
developing new manufacturing processes at the pilot level, validating
SOP’s, operating equipment, collecting data, producing parts,
troubleshooting, and yield improvement actions.
You will apply your technical knowledge on projects, serving as a
technical resource in the organization, and effectively communicate
results to team & customers.
You will:
Program and operate the cell and all the auxiliary support components.
Perform regular maintenance and functions with cell operations.
Interfacing with GE Global Research, GE Businesses, equipment vendors, and Suppliers
Work in a Team based, cross disciplined environment
As a member of the specific Project Team, you will exercise judgment & independent decision making to ensure:
Equipment maintenance
Material tracking
Data acquisition, data entry, and analysis
Pre-production operations
Development area organization and Housekeeping
Providing input to the Project Planning
Associates,
Manufacturing Engineering or related with at least 7 years of
experience in Manufacturing Technology prototyping and manufacturing
operations support role or a Bachelors in Manufacturing Engineering or
related with at least 5 years of experience in Manufacturing
Technology prototyping and manufacturing operations support role
Experience in composite processing
Experience in manual layup of prepregg materials
Proficient in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and database software. Capable of report generation and analysis.
Candidate must be willing to travel a minimum of 4 weeks per year.
Mechanical & electrical machine experience
EHS knowledge base
Knowledge of controlled experimental techniques
Basic mechanical proficiency including the ability to create sketches for part fabrication
Experience with electronic data collection techniques and equipment a plus.
Inspection techniques
Prototyping experience
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We
