The lean leader will be a core team member on the HEWH 80 gallon
Program Team and will provide leadership on the implementation of Lean
Manufacturing initiatives and the utilization of Action Workouts or 3P
(Kaizen) to eliminate waste in future Appliance Park Manufacturing Water
Heater Operations.
Create the lean vision and implement a lean strategy to
optimize hours per unit, reduce inventory, lead-time, and waste for the
new 80 gallon water heater.
Organize and lead lean 3P (Production Preparation Process)
events to focus on eliminating waste in both product and process
design. This includes developing pull systems, training personnel, and
other activities to achieve world-class process flow.
Develop production system through fishbone, small scale layout, and full scale mock-ups prior to purchasing equipment.
Develop value stream maps for the organization and eliminate process waste through implementation of lean techniques.
Guide plant teams/direct reports in developing and
executing lean plans to reduce inventory, lead-time, and waste to
improve process quality.
Drive consistency and timely implementation of all Lean activities (3P, Shingijutsu led workshops, KPO creation, etc.).
Provide training and leadership to all salaried and hourly continuous improvement employees to drive Lean in their roles.
Capture previous lessons learned to incorporate all the
lean best practices across Appliance Park and ensure they are
incorporated in the team’s daily functions and processes.
Manage day-to-day activities for the 80 gallon water heater KPO members.
Provide routine program updates to all levels of the organization including both factory teams and executives.
Work with 80 gallon water heater team to help achieve improvement in safety, quality, cost and delivery targets.
BS/BA or equivalent.
Prior LEAN experience and practice.
Experience building, empowering and leading talented crossfunctional
teams.
Vision and courage to pursue big ideas, encourage smart
experimentation.
Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
Outstanding communication, presentation and leadership
skills.
Demonstrated ability to independently develop, manage and
implement aggressive project plans.
Understanding of Lean principles - Working knowledge of
Toyota
Production System: JIT, JIDOKA, and HEIJUNKA; Experience
with tools such as SMED, 5S's, POKA-YOKE, KAN BAN,
CHAKU-CHAKU.
Proven ability to communicate complex matters in a simple,
understandable format.
Ability to build and promote organizational change
management initiatives valuing relationships, building
idea/problem-solving culture.
Exemplary energy and enthusiasm and a demonstrated
ability to energize others to exceed their potential.
