The Lead Engineer / Technologist EIS (Engineer in-the-shop) will be an experienced engineer co-located at a key Supply Chain core shop or supplier to accelerate progress on NPI (New Product Introductions), delivery, cost out, and quality.
In addition, you will:

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adheres to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting assigned projects
  • Document technical data generated by assigned projects consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Support NPIs (NPI + source changes) by adding rigor and incorporating lessons learned
  • Identify / Support Engineering cost out projects
  • Drive MRB reduction and TAT improvement
  • Communicate Engineering design intent
  • Build connections between Site and Design Engineering part owners
  • Support other Engineering tasks / initiatives; like VSE first-article visuals, PPRs
  • Support other Supply Chain tasks / initiatives; like loss reduction, quality event root cause analysis
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in a design engineering role
  • GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proficient with PCs and common commercial software tools like MS Office
  • Minimum of 10 years of design experience on gas turbine components
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics from an accredited college or university
  • Strong track record of results
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong understanding of composite processing techniques and design
